Vietnam sentences rhino horn and ivory smugglers to 12 years in prison – Thai news agency MCOT


HANOI, Nov. 21 – Vietnam has sentenced a man to 12 years in prison for smuggling rhino horn and ivory from Angola.

Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV), Vietnam’s wildlife protection organization, said the 38-year-old Vietnamese man convicted was hired by an unidentified person to deliver two packages. The boxes contained nearly 12 kilograms of rhino horn and five kilograms of ivory from Angola. ENV said one of the packages was seized while the culprit was in Qatar awaiting exchange. He was then detained at the airport in Hanoi last April. He was sentenced by a court on Monday.-Thai News Agency
