Mr. Khaeng Yutdamrong, Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Extension, said that the situation of fruit production in the eastern region found that the area planted with 4 types of fruit trees had a total of 907,542 rai of perennial area, an increase of 16,839 rai or 1.89% from 2022, a total yield of 656,626 rai, a decrease. from the year 2022, the amount of 27,791 rai or 4.06%
The average yield per rai is 1,604 kilograms, a decrease of 241 kilograms or 13.06%, which is expected throughout the production season to have a total yield of 1,053,328 tons, a decrease of 209,571 tons or 16.59% from the year 2022, which decreases due to the inclement weather. Heavy rain at the end of the year continued until the beginning of 2023, alternating with long cold weather. unfavorable for flowering and fruiting
As for durians in the flowering phase, 1st and 2nd generations were eroded by rain and thus could not develop into fruit. In addition, it was affected by storms intermittently from late 2022 until March 2023, causing damage to flowers and fruit. But yields are expected to drop slightly. due to the increased yielding area compared to last year
While other economic fruit trees, such as mangosteen, rambutan and longkong, both planted area and productivity decreased. due to lower returns unstable price and difficult to find labor during harvest
