Threads expands Hidden Words filtering to feeds, search, and profiles

--

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced in Threads that the company is expanding its spam filtering system. To cover more areas within the app than before.

The feature is called “Hidden Words” and originally it filtered only the messages that were sent back to the user. Users can filter out words or phrases that they don’t want to appear in the reply box. But starting today, Hidden Words will be extended to feeds, search, profiles, and other post replies fields as well.

For Hidden Words, it filters out posts that users don’t want to see. Just add a word, phrase, or even an emoji to the list and the app will hide posts containing those words. which aside from creating the list itself Users can also let the app automatically filter out certain words. You can disable this feature from settings.

Mosseri also revealed that the company is working on additional security tools, such as choosing who can quote users’ messages. This reduces nuisance and unwanted threats. And users can also turn off notifications on posts they post. You will still receive notifications except for the selected posts.

As for the Hidden Words feature, it has been expanded to all users. Other features are in testing and may only be available to certain users.
