Seagate Technology Holdings Innovative leader in high-capacity storage solutions Presenting the annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report on the topic “Sustainable Datasphere: Fiscal Year 2023 ESG Performance Report”

In its 18th annual report, Seagate highlights continued progress throughout the past fiscal year. To strive towards creating a sustainable, inclusive and ethical data repository. and progress on Seagate’s renewable energy and carbon neutrality goals.

Seagate is focused on powering its manufacturing and research and development (R&D) facilities with 100% renewable energy by 2030. In fiscal year 2023, more than 50% of the company’s energy consumption will come from renewable energy. Specifically, Seagate’s factories in China, Thailand and Northern Ireland operate on 100% renewable energy. The company remains committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040.

“Seagate continues to maintain its position as a leader in innovation in sustainable storage. Being a driver of the circular economy and address the critical environmental challenges we are facing,” said Chief Executive Dave Mosley. and added: “By collaborating with industry partners, customers, partners and governments, we can create a circular economy and drive concrete, positive change.”

Additionally, in fiscal 2023, Seagate was able to extend the life of approximately 1.19 million hard drives and solid state drives (SSDs) through global renewable programs. By retrofitting and deploying these drives, the company saved more than 553 metric tons of electronic waste from landfills this year.1

Environmental aspect

  • Can reduce energy use by approximately 33,600 megawatt hours. By increasing operational efficiency in Seagate’s factories
  • Scope 2 market emissions are reduced to approximately 288,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2022, down from approximately 749,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2021. All of this from the cancellation of the renewable energy credit project for the company
  • Approximately 3,700 megaliters of water is recycled through an efficient process. and the use of that water again

Human resource management

  • Establish standards for diversity and inclusion.
