Qualcomm has released many processor chipsets. And always use naming conventions that can confuse everyone. For example, two popular models, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2, may make everyone confused. So which one is stronger? We have details for you to see here.

When we compare the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, we can see that both are made using a 4nm manufacturing process, which leads to higher performance and better power consumption. Because it is the same level of technology as the company’s best chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the moment.

However, it looks like the 7 Plus Gen 2 is ahead of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in terms of CPU performance, with a maximum clock speed of 2.91 GHz, which far surpasses the 7 Gen 3’s maximum clock speed of 2.63 GHz.

Both chipsets use the Adreno 700 series GPU, which is a powerful graphics card. However, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 stands out by using a slightly more advanced Adreno 725 upgrade.

Both processors have artificial intelligence tools attached to them. Since both use Hexagon NPU, these two chipsets are ready to work with the AI functions that smartphone manufacturers will include in the device as well. Both models are the same.

In terms of connectivity, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 have similar features. But there is a difference: the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 modem comes with the Snapdragon X63, while the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 uses the 5G Snapdragon X62 modem.

This causes a difference in the maximum download speed of the 5G signal, with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 having a slightly higher maximum speed. But this difference does not have a significant impact in the real world. Because technically they give very similar results. It also depends on many external factors while you are connecting. Therefore it is very difficult for us to see the difference in this way while we are using it.

Therefore, in terms of CPU and GPU processing, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 will be faster and more powerful than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, quite clearly. But in terms of 5G signal connection technology, it will be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 that will have a modem that uses higher technology inserted instead. But they are only slightly different and are unlikely to have any noticeable effect on us in actual use.

It may be concluded that Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 is a more usable processor chipset than Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

Processor performance comparison results by Benchmark test

Although these tests cannot reflect actual everyday use, But it reveals the capabilities of the chipset in an easy to understand format. We have performance benchmarks of Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 for you to see below.

Test results with Geekbench 5

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
