Dr. Chutima Iamchotikul, Governor of the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (TISTR), along with Ms. Pimprapai Supararat, Senior International Relations Officer. International Relations Division Attending the WAITRO Executive Board – RFP Meeting on 20 November 2023 at Tubitak Marmara Research Center, Gebze, Turkia.
TISTR attended the meeting as an agency assigned by the World Association of Industrial and Technological Research Organizations (WAITRO) to be a coordination agency for members in Asia and the Pacific (Regional Focal Point for Asia and the Pacific), which has been assigned to continue operations from 2019 to the present. The objective of this meeting is to jointly determine the future of WAITRO’s work management.
The agenda included the establishment of WAITRO Operation eV in Germany. To be a subunit to help drive WAITRO’s plans, creating opportunities for flexibility in the association’s budget. Increase the opportunity to receive funding from various funding sources such as the European Union (EU) to drive work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including preparation for the WAITRO Summit 2024 academic conference and member general meeting scheduled to be held at the end of the year. 2024 etc.
On this occasion, TISTR reported the results of operations to the region in 2023, which TISTR has worked closely with the WAITRO Secretariat Office and Regional Representatives, including organizing Regional Events and surveying opinions of members in the region. Plans to be implemented in 2024, such as academic activities to drive SDG 2 Zero Hunger through agricultural and food innovation, SDG 12 Responsible Production and Consumption, and other activities such as knowledge exchange, research funding opportunities between Asia and Europe. Training in producing Halal-compliant products across Asia, the Middle East, and Asia. which is a commercial opportunity for entrepreneurs, etc.
